Imagined Futures from the South
We invite you to occupy the future

of Futures
The 2084 Imagined Futures from the South program invites you to occupy the future of Latin American cities. It convokes imaginations and amplifies the voices of those that usually go unheard.
Occupy the future! This program invites you to seize the future
The future is currently a field in dispute, inclusive futures require considering the aspirations of society as a whole and not only of the sectors that are used to exercising their “capacity to aspire” (Appadurai, 2004). So that the future includes us all it is crucial to activate each imagination and encourage everyone to occupy the everyday life of the future.
- We ACTIVATE the capacity to imagine the future of everyday life in cities of the South to construct new horizons based on inclusion and justice. We are calling for the creative expression of wishes, hopes, dreams and fears about everyday life in the year 2084 and are welcoming imaginations in a wide range of formats to be made public.
- We SHARE everyone's imaginations and display them in the Museum of Futures. This digital museum is an active and collective repository under permanent construction.
- We DISCUSS AND LEARN from the imaginations of the future, facilitate new connections and offer spaces for reflection and critique, so that the future includes us all.
- We CONNECT lessons from this process with those who make decisions about our future from government authorities. Finally, the program transforms the results of the calls and discussions into pragmatic recommendations for collective action and public policy.
How do we do it?
